I know, I know... It's not grungy. But he's cute. Look at him.

So this kid is awesome and so great to shoot. I don't use natural light hardly at all but it really came out well on his baby skin...

By the way, he is in the running for the next Gap Baby.

Composite Work

So composite photography, for me, is a love hate relationship. Mostly hate. I get a composite to look decent maybe 5% of the time I try to do one so if you want to see great composites, don't look too closely at my work. Instead check out Jeremy Cowart's composites. He is my idle by the way, so you will hear a lot about him... Jeremy Cowart Photography just click on the composites tab or feel free to check out all of his other insanely awesome work.

All that said, I will break down the composite of Sam (my roommate) here for you in this post.

This picture is made up of just 3 total pictures. One for the sky, one for the background, and obviously one for Sam. Here are the raw, untouched images below:

I think the hardest part of compositing is getting your color tones to match up. So I used color balance, and selective color to match the color in this composite. And hair selection used to be a nightmare but with CS5 it really is a lot easier. Here's how easy it is: Hair Selection in CS5

So other than that, I use the color range selection tool to get rid of unwanted elements or colors and make a ton of layer masks...

NEW BLOG!!!

This is certainly a new endeavor for me so be patient! I will use this as a venue to post my work, show how I shoot certain things, discuss equipment used, before and after photoshop sessions, so pretty much anything and everything photography. If you ever have any questions feel free to ask! I will do my best to help out in any way I can.

Here we go...
