Composite Work

So composite photography, for me, is a love hate relationship. Mostly hate. I get a composite to look decent maybe 5% of the time I try to do one so if you want to see great composites, don't look too closely at my work. Instead check out Jeremy Cowart's composites. All that said, I will break down the composite of Sam (my roommate) here for you in this post. 

This picture is made up of just 3 total pictures. One for the sky, one for the background, and obviously one for Sam. Here are the raw, untouched images below:


I think the hardest part of compositing is getting your color tones to match up. So I used color balance, and selective color to match the color in this composite. And hair selection used to be a nightmare but with CS5 it really is a lot easier. Here's how easy it is: Hair Selection in CS5

So other than that, I use the color range selection tool to get rid of unwanted elements or colors and make a ton of layer masks...
